Dear Sirs,

REF : PROSPECTION FOR ; HIDES, SKINS, SPLITS AND FINISHED LEATHERS.-

We are a commission agency specialized in all kind of Hides, Splits, Skins and Leathers from raw up to fully finished, any origins, Export as well as Import, excluding Wild-Life by-products.
Our family has been in this line of business since four generations.
We are a modest company but we pretend to be real professionnals in the trade, and we dare say “ we know our job “.
Modesty aside we are quite well known and introduced in Europe and Overseas through our traditonal Suppliers as well as through our faithfull Customers.
In the last years business became more and more difficult for almost everybody everywhere.
Unfortunately under the pressure of the market with restricted or negative margins, some Suppliers and Customers lost THEIR moral values such as the once respected tacit sense of ethic and fairplay, and thinking our mare commission would help them to improve the out turn of their final balance have been gradually squeezing our little margin.

A COMMISSION IS A SALARY FOR A GIVEN SERVICE AND NOT A SPECULATIVE MARGIN

Even in some odd cases, loosing any shame, some greedy traders or customers bridging us,tried to contact direct our best Principals, either ways, in our back.
This is a very unfair and frustrating behaviour as we honestly try to give a good service to our business relations.
We do not pretend to be better or perfect, we surely have our own failures like everyone, but within our capabilities and knowhow we do our best to follow our contracts from A up to Z, until an happy end, if possible.
For many, many years now we have been dealing on commission basis without any writen agreement with several well known suppliers and customers within a very correct, pleasant commercial policy and phylosophy on either sides.
Today we are happy and proud to say some of them are now our very good old times true friends.
Should some justified claims arise, we do our very best to find an amicable settlement.
For all the above reasons we have now decided to limit our activities selecting, with their approval of course, the most reliable suppliers willing to cooperate with us within a formal reciprocal unconditionnal exclusive agency agreement to protect our respective interests.
Please do not misunderstand the sense of that letter or be offended by our terms.
It is neither mistrust nor pretentious ambition on our part but this will be, if possible, our new commercial policy in 1999.
We hate the idea to work for monkey money as it happened too many times in the last two years, or pave the way to a clever or tricky competitor.
We believe it is also your interest to know that we only cooperate with you in your province or country, depending of course how big is your country.
For instance huge countries like Australia, Brasil, China, USA may justify two or more contacts, if you agree ? .
You will also give a good image of seriousness towards our customers, when they will realize that it is always the same agent attending them.
If so you wish, from time to time, we wil visit our friends together with you to say hello, investigate wether they are happy with our services and your deliveries and if you are satisfied with the commercial behaviour of our selected customers ( few claims, prompt payment ) .
Of course we understand you may want to make a first trial from six months up to one workable year and then reconfirm definitively our agreement for a longer period if you are satisfied with us. This absolutely logical and do not see any objections.
Supposing you agree to such proposal we will gladly visit you in a near future as soon as we negociated some contracts.
No use to say you will be most welcome here if you prefer to come over, so we get to know each other better face to face and you will be able to see our relations with our customers.
Times are very difficult all over, they could become worse as some well known economists pronosticated long ago and we have to adapt ourselves or disappear like once the Dinausores.
" Big is beautifull " has been the motto during the glorious thirties, now things have changed and may be " Small is beautifull " will be the solution for tomorrow to survive.
